Amir Garrett Picks Up Fourth Save
3 years agoCincinnati Reds left-handed reliever Amir Garrett picked up just his fourth save of the season on Tuesday when he allowed a hit and struck out one in his inning of work in the 10-7 win over the Minnesota Twins. Lucas Sims blew the lead in the eighth inning, allowing Garrett to enter with a lead in the ninth. Tejay Antone, who made his first appearance on Tuesday since coming off the injured list, blew the save but got the win after giving up a hit in two-thirds of an inning. Garrett has 27 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings of work in relief this year, but he's also walked 14 hitters and allowed 20 earned runs (8.44 ERA) and eight home runs. Sims and Antone should continue to share ninth-inning duties in the Reds bullpen.
