Ameer Abdullah To See Significant Snaps In Preseason Finale
6 years agoThursday's preseason finale for the Detroit Lions may be running back Ameer Abdullah's final chance to prove he deserves a spot on the final roster. He has played more snaps (44) than any other running back on the team in the preseason except for rookie Kerryon Johnson. He rushed for 30 yards on seven carries in the win over the Buccaneers last week and is averaging 4.1 yards per carry in the preseason. Abdullah is expected to play significant snaps in the final preseason game this week on Thursday against the Browns. Johnson and LeGarrette Blount are locked into the top two spots, with Theo Riddick likely to be the pass-catching back on third downs. The Lions could trade Abdullah or go with Zach Zenner or Dwayne Washington over him. As fourth on the current depth chart, Abdullah should be avoided in fantasy drafts.
