Alfred Morris, Matt Breida To Share Workload
6 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running backs Alfred Morris and Matt Breida are expected to share the workload with Jerick McKinnon (knee) out for the season. The 29-year-old Morris is a tough inside runner and gained nearly 2,900 yards and 20 touchdowns under head coach Kyle Shanahan in two seasons. Breida is 23 and averaged 4.4 yards per carry with 21 catches in his rookie year in 2017. How the Niners use both backs could be a weekly adjustment based on the matchups. Morris figures to be the favorite on early downs and in short-yardage/goal-line situations, while Breida is more versatile and could be the third-down back. Morris should probably be your first target in fantasy drafts, but Breida has more PPR upside as an RB3/flex.
