Alex Wood Signs With Giants
4 years agoThe San Francisco Giants signed left-hander Alex Wood to a one-year, $3 million deal on Friday. The 30-year-old can make an extra $3 million in performance bonuses for the number of games in which he gets 10 or more outs. Wood was an All-Star in 2017 and went 0-1 with a 6.39 ERA in two starts and seven relief outings in the shortened 2020 season with the Dodgers, striking out 15 hitters in 12 2/3 innings of work. He threw two perfect innings in Game 6 of the World Series to help clinch the title over the Rays. Wood is 53-44 in his career with a 3.45 ERA in 138 starts and 50 relief appearances over eight seasons with the Braves, Dodgers and Reds. Expect the southpaw to compete for a spot in San Francisco's right-handed-heavy starting rotation.
