Alex Reyes To Make Another Start At Triple-A
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals executive John Mozeliak said that starting pitcher Alex Reyes will make another start for Triple-A Memphis, which puts him out of the running for a spot start this Friday at the Mets. However, Mozeliak did say that Reyes is a strong candidate to join St. Louis' rotation after his next minor league start if he can show improved command. Reyes, once one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball, struggled in relief to begin the year in the majors and has been rehabbing from a broken finger on the farm. The right-hander is sporting a 4.76 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 10.8 K/9 in six starts (three relief outings) over 28 1/3 innings in the minors this year. His 6.0 BB/9 is what should scare fantasy owners if he's starting in the big leagues, but Reyes' upside should not be ignored in deeper leagues as a potential sneaky pickup.
