Alex Colome Won't Return To White Sox
4 years agoFree-agent relief pitcher Alex Colome won't be returning to the Chicago White Sox after they signed reliever Liam Hendriks to a three-year deal on Monday night. The San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins appear to be those in the mix to add Colome, who is coming off two excellent seasons with the Pale Hose. The 32-year-old right-hander was among the league's best closers in 2020, finishing with a sparkling 0.81 ERA with no home runs allowed over his 22 1/3 innings. Colome hasn't posted an ERA north of 3.24 dating back to the start of the 2016 campaign, when he made the All-Star team for the first time in his career. The Dominican pitcher has 138 saves in his career and would probably have the most fantasy appeal in a ninth-inning role for the Padres, one of the most improved teams in baseball.
