Alex Cobb's Season Is Over
5 years agoBaltimore Orioles general manager Mike Elias said that starting pitcher Alex Cobb (hip) will undergo season-ending hip surgery this week. Cobb signed a four-year, $57 million deal 15 months ago but started the season on the injured list with groin soreness and went back on the IL twice with a lumbar strain in his back. The surgery will correct a femoroacetabular impingement in his right hip. There's a possibility that Cobb will have a second surgery to deal with some knee soreness, but he's expected to be 100 percent next spring. The 31-year-old wasn't effective at all this year when he was on the field and not much should be expected of him from fantasy owners in mixed leagues in 2020.
