Alex Cobb To Throw Off A Mound This Week
6 months agoSan Francisco Giants right-hander Alex Cobb (hip, shoulder) is scheduled to throw off a mound this week. Cobb is currently throwing out to 110-120 feet on flat ground but is ready to take the next step to the mound this week. He was progressing well in his rehab from offseason left-hip surgery but hit another setback when he felt mild shoulder irritation before throwing a bullpen session on April 16. He was moved to the 60-day injured list on April 20 and attempted to resume throwing after that, but he was shut down again after continuing to experience soreness in his right shoulder. Cobb received a cortisone injection in his shoulder in mid-May and also started taking nerve medication, which appears to have done the trick. Because of how much time he's already missed in 2024, the 36-year-old veteran probably won't be a realistic option for fantasy managers until late July.
