5 years agoArizona Diamondbacks catcher Alex Avila (calf) left the game early on Thursday with a left calf strain. The good news is that Avila had a solo home run in his three plate appearances before leaving the contest. This is an injury that often requires a trip to the injured list, so don't expect Avila to be back on Friday or anytime soon. The 32-year-old has split time with Carson Kelly behind the dish but is batting only .220/.410/.508 with five home runs, 10 runs and 11 RBI in 78 plate appearances.
