Addison Russell's Investigation Could Come To A Close Soon
6 years agoMLB commissioner Rob Manfred said that the investigation into accusations of domestic violence against Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is close to being over. A decision on a possible suspension for Russell could be made within weeks, if not days. “Right now we’re kind of going day by day,” Manfred said. “I think we will have a final decision shortly. That’s the best I can [say]." Manfred said a decision could possibly happen before the end of the playoffs. Russell remains on paid administrative leave. With the Cubs being eliminated from the postseason on Tuesday, Russell obviously won't have a chance to return at all this year. If he's suspended, it'll kick in for the start of the 2019 season. Not only did Russell disappoint immensely in 2018 due to injuries and poor performance, but now he has this hanging over his head. His fantasy stock is way down heading into the offseason.
