Addison Russell Will Stay In Minors
6 years agoThe Chicago Cubs plan to option shortstop Addison Russell back to Triple-A Iowa when his minor league assignment is up on Friday, according to executive Theo Epstein. Russell's 40-game suspension for violating the league's domestic-abuse police will be up, but the Cubs will elect to keep the infielder down on the farm for the time being. He'll also be working at both shortstop and second at Iowa, with the hope that he'll give Chicago some more infield depth as a utility player whenever he comes up. You can ignore Russell in fantasy leagues.
