Adam Ottavino Chooses The Mets
3 years agoThe New York Mets agreed to a $4 million deal plus incentives with free-agent relief pitcher Adam Ottavino on Sunday, pending a physical. Ottavino spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons with the New York Mets before spending last year in the Boston Red Sox's bullpen. The 36-year-old New York native was a part-time closer in Beantown in 2021 and had a 4.71 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 11 saves in 62 innings pitched. Walks were a bit of an issue for the right-hander, but he did have a nice 25.7% strikeout rate to make up for it. Ottavino will be more of a setup man for the Mets, especially if they also add lefty Brad Hand, but he could still have plenty of fantasy value in leagues that count holds.
