Adalberto Mondesi Goes Back On Injured List
4 years agoThe Kansas City Royals placed shortstop Adalberto Mondesi (oblique) back on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a strained left oblique. Infielder Ryan O'Hearn was recalled from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. Oblique injuries are tricky injuries to come back from, and it's especially concerning for Mondesi, who spent time on the injured list earlier this year with an oblique ailment on his other side. The 25-year-old speedster has played in only 10 games this season because of injuries, but he's slashing a cool .361/.378/.833 with a 1.212 OPS, four home runs, six runs scored, nine RBI and a stolen base in 38 plate appearances. Fantasy managers will have to exercise more patience with the star shortstop and hope his rehab from his latest oblique ailment won't be too lengthy. Some combination of Nicky Lopez and Hanser Alberto should man the 6 until Mondesi is healthy again.
