Aaron Sanchez Could Have Offseason Surgery
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez (finger) is facing the "possibility" of offseason surgery to fix a lingering problem with the index finger of his pitching hand, according to general manager Ross Atkins. Sanchez has visited two hand specialists in the United States and will see a third opinion. The last two seasons have been lost because Sanchez could not get over the hump with his finger injuries. He had a career-low 3.00 ERA and went 15-2 in 2016 before struggling each of the last two seasons. The right-hander finishes 2018 with a 4-6 record, 4.89 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 7.4 K/9 in 20 starts. It's unknown how long he'd be out if he undergoes the surgery, but fantasy owners won't be excited to draft Sanchez in 2019 drafts.
