Aaron Sabato Drafted By Twins At No. 27
5 years agoThe Minnesota Twins selected North Carolina first baseman Aaron Sabato with the 27th overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft on Wednesday. Sabato got off to a slow start in his collegiate career, but he quickly rebounded to hit .380 with 17 home runs in his last 44 games to break the freshman school record for long balls on his way to earning ACC freshman of the year honors. His raw power from the right side is exceptional because of his strength and bat speed. Sabato could develop his overall approach at the plate, but he doesn't strike out excessively. He's been compared to Pete Alonso early in his college career, so that doesn't hurt. Sabato lacks range and has below-average arm strength, so he could be in trouble if he doesn't hit at the next level.
