Aaron Rodgers Struggles In Season Finale
2 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 17-of-27 passes for 205 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during the team's 20-16 loss to the Detroit Lions. He added three carries for 10 yards. It is a disappointing end to a very disappointing fantasy season for the reigning MVP, and the loss cost the Packers the final NFC Wild Card spot. Rodgers finished as a top 12 fantasy quarterback twice in 2022 and threw for multiple touchdown passes in only nine games. His overall fantasy finish is the lowest of any complete season in his career, and it is the lowest amount of passing yards thrown by the 39-year-old in any season he did not miss time. The 12 interceptions he threw were also a career-high. Retirement speculation was already rampant before this game and will continue to ramp up for what could be weeks to months of talk while we wait to hear a final decision from Rodgers himself. If he remains a Packer, Rodgers will be nothing more than a streaming option in 2023 unless the receiving corps is given an overhaul. If the veteran is moved, his fantasy value will depend on the weapons surrounding him at this point in his career. Buckle up for a potentially long, drawn-out offseason for the future Hall of Famer.
