Aaron Jones Impressive Despite Costly Fumble
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones ran for 76 yards on 14 carries and added two receptions for 10 yards in Week 9’s matchup against the New England Patriots. While the stat line wasn’t dominant, it was positive to see Jones get a majority of the touches at running back. The offense as a whole moved the ball better when Jones was involved and it is clear he has great talent. Much of the positives of his night will likely be overlooked in favor of a costly fumble late in the game that helped the Patriots wrap up a win. Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy has been eager at points this season not to trust Jones so his usage going forward will have to be monitored. Jones should be viewed cautiously. While he will likely produce like a solid RB2 moving forward in aggregate, he may not produce consistently and is at risk of losing his role at any minute. How much action he see’s next week should tell us a lot about what the rest of his season should look like.
