Aaron Hicks Getting The Day Off Tuesday, Could Sit Again Wednesday
4 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks is not in Tuesday's lineup for the contest against the Braves. At first glance, it seems like a routine day off, though manager Aaron Boone said that Hicks could remain out of the lineup on Wednesday to work on "mechanical adjustments." The 31-year-old outfielder is batting just .160- though his plate discipline has been most concerning- 25.5 percent strikeout rate and 7.3 percent walk rate compared to 19.7 and 12.7 percent career averages, respectively. Perhaps the time off will allow Hicks to discover if there's anything wrong with his swing. Mike Tauchman will draw the start in left field with Brett Gardner in center for the opening game against Atlanta.
