A.J. Puk, Jesus Luzardo Could Be Free Of Innings Restrictions
4 years agoOakland Athletics left-handed pitching prospects A.J. Puk (shoulder) and Jesus Luzardo, the team's No. 3 and 1 prospects at MLB Pipeline, respectively, could be free of innings restrictions in 2020 now that the season will only consist of 60 games and start in late July. Puk was shut down in March when he suffered a mild strain in his left shoulder, but he should be good to go for Opening Day. Luzardo might've been on his way to a breakout rookie year in 2019 if not for injuries. Luzardo has more upside as a starter, but both southpaws have incredible strikeout upside in a pitcher's park. The 22-year-old Luzardo has four elite pitches and should be even more attractive without any restrictions as a top-50 fantasy pitcher. Puk should also rise up draft boards, especially if he proves his shoulder is fully healthy in spring training 2.0.
