ANALYSIS: Washington started 57 of his 58 games last year, averaging 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game while shooting 37.4 percent from three on four attempts per game. Basketball Reference estimates he played around 85 percent of his minutes at the four.
The Hornets look different this year, but Washington spending so much time at the four while Miles Bridges played just 25 percent of his time there makes me think Washington will have the best chance to start among the two. And even with Gordon Hayward taking on more offensive possessions here, Washington should be in line for another solid season as a third option.
Last year, among players eligible at both the SF/PF positions, Washington was one of only four to shot at least 1.5 three-pointers per game while finishing the year shooting 45.5+ percent from the floor (and 36+ percent from three). The other three: Khris Middleton, Brandon Ingram, and Tobias Harris; all of them with ADPs in the 41-to-61 clip.
