BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 6% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: With Josh Jacobs (toe) ailing and Kenyan Drake doing basically nothing with his touches, Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber looks like a back that needs to be rostered in all deep leagues.
Barber went off in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins. He carried the ball 23 times for 111 yards and a score while adding three catches for 31 yards on five targets. Jacobs was out for his second straight game this past week and Barber seized his opportunity in a big way.
Drake looked like the No. 2 back for the team going into the year, but he has been extremely inefficient with his touches so far and the changing of the guard with Barber has essentially taken place. Drake is averaging just 2.1 yards per carry over 21 attempts. He logged 71% of the snaps in Week 2, compared with Barber's 29%, but this past week, Drake only played 43% of the snaps while Barber logged 57%.
Barber's in his sixth year in the NFL and fantasy managers are mostly accustomed to him being an underwhelming option off the waiver wire. However, he has a great opportunity in front of him. Even though he may not be the most talented back in the league, he's clearly the most talented healthy back on the Raiders right now and he should be rostered in all leagues of 14 teams or deeper because of that fact. Jacobs is supposed to return to practice this week, but he's dealing with turf toe, which can be a lingering injury and may continue to force him to sit or force the team to reduce his role.
