MLB Daily Leagues - Lineup Picks for August 24, 2013
P - Yu Darvish (TEX): Darvish is one of the best pitchers in baseball. He has a crazy 214 strikeouts already on the season-- that's 26 more than any other pitcher in baseball. He has really found consistency this season getting his ERA all the way down to 2.68, but the one thing that has hurt him is the long ball--he's given up 19 home runs this season. Darvish looks to cool off the White Sox in what should be a successful start for him. He has 100 strikeouts in just 68 innings pitched on the road this season, and the Rangers offense has shown enough firepower to get him the win today.
C - Jonathan Lucroy (MIL): Lucroy is a very solid hitting catcher. He's been seeing the ball well lately, with a .353 BA over his past four games. Lucroy is 3-for-9 (2 2B) career against Bronson Arroyo. He's also proved he can hit away from home, with a .300 BA on the road this season. Lucroy has had a solid month so far August with a .304 BA.
1B - Freddie Freeman (ATL): Freeman has been proving the entire 2013 season that he's one of the first baseman in the league. I love it when players don't fall into big slumps. In four of the five months this season, he's had a .315 average or higher. He faces a struggling Shelby Miller on Saturday, against whom he is 1-for-3 with a single. Freemand has been hot lately, riding a six-game hitting streak during which he's 12-for-27 with a .444 BA. He's been strong against right-handers with a .321 BA in 2013.
2B - Ian Kinsler (TEX): Kinsler is 2-for-4 with a double career against Hector Santiago. He's been hot his past four games-- over that span, he's 7-for-15 with a .467 BA. Kinsler's been killing left-handed pitching all season, with a .325 BA against them. He see's the ball very well at night .302 BA compared to a horrid .171 during day games.
SS - Hanley Ramirez (LAD): Hanley finally again showing flashes of what he did in 2006 through 2009. He's hitting a stellar .348 in 63 games this season, and facing the Red Sox, who traded him for Josh Beckett nearly six years ago. He's 2-for-6 with a double career against Jon Lester. Hanley has showed he can hit southpaws this season with a .305 BA against lefties. He's also hitting a .350 at home this season.
3B - Josh Donaldson (OAK): Donaldson is finally staying healthy and turning into the diverse player the A's were hoping for. He's hitting .295 with 18 HR, 71 RBI and 64 R. He's had a lot of success in a small sample size vs. Chris Tillman, going 3-for-3 with a double. He's proved he can hit on the road with a .315 BA away from home. Donaldson seems to enjoy playing the Orioles, because he's got a .375 BA vs. them in eight career games.
OF - Mike Trout (LAA): He went 0-for-4 in his first night back last night. I wouldn't put too much into that considering King Felix started that game. But Trout is facing a pitcher on Saturday whom he should hit. Erasmo Ramirez is on the mound for the Mariners today, and Trout is 2-for-3 career against Ramirez. Trout has been killing the ball this month with a .360 BA during August. Considering Ramirez is a struggling right-hander, Trout should have no problem producing some hits against him. Trout see's right-handed pitchers very well, with a .330 BA against them this season. Trout even plays better away from home, with a .343 BA on the road this season. Expect a big game out of the phenom today.
