ANALYSIS: Defensively, the Minnesota Vikings have been superb in real life and fantasy for the past two weeks, and will be a very strong start in week nine. Against the Bills in week seven, the Vikings had six sacks, one interception, and four forced fumbles. They followed that spectacular performance with another solid outing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week eight, in which they posted five sacks, one interception, and a forced fumble in overtime recovered by LB Anthony Barr and run back for a touchdown. In those two games, the Vikings scored 25 points and 21 points, respectively.
After a blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football in week five, there were many questions surrounding the Vikings' defense. They gave up 40 points in that game, allowing QB Aaron Rodgers three passing touchdowns and RB Eddie Lacy two rushing scores. The Vikings have seemingly gotten their issues sorted out since then, as they have allowed an average of 15.7 points per game over the last three weeks.
This weekend, they face the Redskins, led by QB Robert Griffin III, who will be playing in his first game since being injured in week two. Griffin had not been playing particularly well before hurting himself and is likely in for a rough performance tomorrow. Playing at home and facing a rusty quarterback coming off injury should bode well for the Vikings.
