ANALYSIS: Kennard was sent to the Clippers as part of a deal that also sent Landry Shamet to Brooklyn. I think we should expect Kennard to slide into the role that Shamet had, which should be good news for Kennard, even if it's accompanied by a drop in minutes. Shamet averaged 27.4 minutes last year, while Kennard averaged 32.9.
But a five minute per game drop shouldn't suddenly kill Kennard's value. He'll be used more as a three-point shooter than he was last year, when 53 percent of his attempts came from deep, as he moves into a role where 76 percent of Shamet's attempts were from deep. Kennard should really thrive in this new role as a Clipper.
Kennard also offers the Clippers more versatility, and he should bring increased efficiency--not that he did nothing last season on that front, though. Kennard was one of only nine players league-wide to shot 39+ percent from three and 89+ percent from the free-trhow line. Removing the outliers (not enough shots/minutes played), these are all qualified players: Middleton, Bojan Bogdanovic, Irving, Gallinari, Redick, and Kennard.
