The Miami Marlins are hopeful that star pitcher Jose Fernandez will return from a biceps injury around mid-September, according to Fox Sports.
Fernandez landed on the DL for the second time this season on Aug. 8 with a right bicep strain. The Marlins aren’t playing any meaningful games the rest of the way, which makes it odd that they would want to have their best pitcher throw for possibly two or three starts with the season close to ending.

If the 23-year-old steps on the mound again this season, he could be the missing piece for a fantasy team for their playoffs. When he’s healthy, Fernandez has proved that he’s one of the better pitchers in MLB.
In seven starts this season, the right-hander has a 4-0 record with a 2.30 ERA and 53 strikeouts over 43 innings. In eight starts last season, Fernandez had a 2.44 ERA before having to undergo Tommy John surgery. In his rookie season the year prior, has owned a 2.19 ERA in 28 starts.
