Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson had a solid season in 2023, hauling in 71 passes for 761 yards and 5 touchdowns. He became a great safety blanket, scoring double-digit PPR fantasy points in 9 games.
Ferguson was a great waiver add or late-round pick for managers in 2023 and looked to build on that momentum in 2024. However, he was knocked out of his first game Sunday after being tackled on a reception.
Is Jake Ferguson hurt or healthy? Will he play in week 2? Let's break it all down.

Jake Ferguson Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Ferguson sustained a knee injury when he was taken down after recording a catch against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. A Browns defender wrapped up Ferguson's lower leg and his foot was trapped between the defender's body and the ground.
Jake Ferguson -
Left foot gets pinned underneath as he lands. Concerns:
•High Ankle Sprain
•Deltoid ligament sprain
•Fibula injury, hopefully no fractureHe was in a lot of pain walking off with assistance and also pointing up closer to his knee (fibular head)

Ferguson's knee can be seen bending awkwardly inwards after the hit. Ferguson immediately fell to the ground in pain, grabbing his knee, and would eventually need help to leave the field. Ferguson did not play for the remainder of the game.
Thankfully for Ferguson's managers, he avoided major injury and sustained no damage to his ACL. Instead, he suffered an MCL sprain and bone bruise and is now considered week-to-week.

Jake Ferguson Fantasy Football Outlook
Considering that the tight end landscape seems to be as barren as the surface of Mars, Ferguson is a great tight end to own. Provided the Cowboys don't rush him back from his injury, he could continue to be a solid contributor at tight end. Ferguson's signature hurdles regularly embarrass defenders who try to go low.

If you own Ferguson, chances are you don't own any other fantasy-relevant tight ends. You may need a waiver wire pickup to fill in for him while he's hurt, but the good news is that may not be for long. Unfortunately, there's not much to be had on the waiver wire.
Your best bet is to make a dart throw, not use any FAAB or a waiver claim spot (in case your league has rolling waivers), and pick someone up to fill in for Ferguson in case he doesn't start. When he plays though, he's a smash play at the position. There isn't any reason to bench him when he's healthy. Start with confidence when he returns.
