Darnell Mooney Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Mooney suffered an apparent knee injury during Sunday's game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He exited the contest and was unable to return, finishing the day with zero targets.
Fortunately, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN indicated that Mooney's injury isn't considered to be serious. Mooney echoed this report himself, telling the media that he's dealing with a "nagging bruise" and should be "fine" to play against the Chiefs on Sunday.
Darnell Mooney Fantasy Football Outlook
Mooney impressed back in Week 1, commanding an 84 percent snap share while totaling seven targets, four receptions, 53 yards, and one touchdown. He has managed to lock up the second receiver role, operating behind DJ Moore but ahead of Chase Claypool, Velus Jones Jr., and Equanimeous St. Brown.
Justin Fields and the Bears have not looked good by any means, but he's going to have to throw the ball an awful lot in order to keep pace with the high-powered Chiefs. This could lead to a significant target total for both Moore and Mooney. In fact, Mooney could sneak into WR3/FLEX territory if the Bears fall behind very early and Moore can't muster much production with L'Jarius Sneed covering him. Don't sleep on Mooney as a relevant fantasy option this Sunday, both in weekly and DFS formats.
