Jose Altuve
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (oblique) will travel with the team for their upcoming road trip to Colorado. The 33-year-old was seen running the bases prior to Sunday's game.
He appears to be making progress, but not as quickly as the organization was hoping he would. It's unclear when or if Altuve is going to go on a rehab assignment. The organization should give more information on his status in the coming days.
Salvador Perez
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (hamstring) left Sunday's meeting with Tampa. He went 1-for-1 with a run. But Perez was pulled after experiencing discomfort in his left hamstring.
The 33-year-old will undergo testing to determine the extent of the ailment. However, Perez may not be available for Monday's opener of the four-game series with the Tigers.
Jeremy Pena
Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena (hamstring) is out of Sunday's lineup against the Angels. The 25-year-old left Saturday's game due to injury, with skipper Dusty Baker confirming a hamstring issue.
Pena, hitting .241 with 10 homers, 33 RBI, 43 runs, and eight stolen bases this season, is hoping to avoid a trip to the IL. But in the meantime, Grae Kessinger will fill the void.
Tommy Pham
New York Mets outfielder Tommy Pham (groin) was out of the lineup for a second consecutive game on Sunday against Bobby Miller and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 35-year-old is suffering from a strained groin, but there's no word on if he'll need a stint on the injured list.
Pham's been one of the best surprises in 2023, as he's slashing .271/.347/.476 with nine homers, 25 runs, 34 RBI, and 10 stolen bases across 71 games. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for more updates on his status.
Eloy Jimenez
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez left Sunday's contest against the Atlanta Braves prematurely after experiencing left groin tightness, according to the team's Twitter. He will be further evaluated, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day.
Jimenez has dealt with numerous injuries over his carer and has only played in 61 games this season, in which he's slashed .270/.314/.465 with 12 homers, 29 runs, and 40 RBI. Gavin Sheets came into the game on Sunday as the 26-year-old's replacement and should receive most of the playing time if he's forced to miss more games.
Rowdy Tellez
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (finger, forearm) will be out another three to four weeks at minimum after breaking the tip of his ring finger on his throwing hand before Saturday's game while shagging fly balls in the outfield. He required 17 stitches for a torn nail bed. Tellez went on the injured list with right-forearm inflammation, but he was set to return early next week before suffering a broken finger on Saturday night.
Fantasy managers in deeper leagues must now wait longer for the 28-year-old left-handed slugger to return. Tellez offers very little besides some modest power from the first base position, as he's currently hitting .213 (55-for-258) with 12 home runs and 36 RBI this year. Owen Miller should see plenty of playing time at the cold corner in Milwaukee until Tellez is able to return.
