ANALYSIS: Stevan Ridley was active for the first time this year in the Jets’ Week 8 loss to the Oakland Raiders. It was a weird game for the Jets, as they lost Ryan Fitzpatrick early in the game to a ligament tear in his non-throwing hand and had to turn to Geno Smith. Christopher Ivory rushed for 17 yards on 15 carries (which is very bad). Zac Stacy ended up being on the field for 27 snaps, while Ridley did not see the field.
Jets’ head coach Todd Bowles did say that he wanted to get Ridley some action, but the way the game went prevented this from occurring. All things considered, it’s clear that barring injury, Ridley would split with Zac Stacy for backup between the tackles work behind bellcow Chris Ivory. Bilal Powell was inactive in Week 8, but he should be back soon to regain his third down/passing down role. Ridley could leapfrog Zac Stacy for #2 duties with strong showings, and be the handcuff to Ivory should he get injured, but that’s quite a few dominoes that need to fall for anything of value to come for Ridley. Be aware of all of them, but it is definitely 'cuffin season out here.
