C.J. Uzomah (TE, CIN) - Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Back in Week 4, everything pointed toward C.J. Uzomah's 26.5 PPR-point game as an outlier by nature. Three games after that and entering the mid-point of the season next weekend, though, are we sure this man can't turn into the WW steal of the season? Even more with the likes of Ja'Marr Chase taking eyes and from him and Joe Burrow throwing the rock?

Uzomah launched his 2021 campaign with three consecutive duds. He put up 5.5, 2.4, and zero fantasy points in the first three weeks of the season not catching a single touchdown, topping at 2 receptions (twice), and reaching no more than 35 receiving yards in any of those games alone. That, simply put, was horrid for Uzomah's owners (whoever they were). Then, W4 happened and with it came Uzomah's ridiculous 6-5-95-2 line good for a TE1 and 14th-overall finish in PPR leagues. Uh, oh, flex on them.

Although Uzomah followed that up with a measly 3.6 PPR-point performance in Week 5 (forget about that), he has been able to score at least 10.5 FP in three of the past four games, has caught at least one touchdown in all of those three, and keeps catching his 3+ receptions per game (he's a catch-rate machine too with 17 catches on 19 targets) while putting up nice yardage (two games with 91+ yards). Hard to trust any low-key tight end weekly, I know, but it's slim picks at the position so you can do much much worse than rostering and playing Uzomah given his environment and own abilities to rack up YAC.
