Tony Pollard Should Still Have a Role in Week 1
Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Tony Pollard should still have a decently meaningful role on offense in Week 1. Pollard was a fantasy darling when starter Ezekiel Elliott was thought to potentially continue his holdout into the regular season, but now that "Zeke" is back, Pollard's immediate value takes a massive hit. Still, the Cowboys […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoDak Prescott Sits on the QB1 Cusp in Week 1
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is a decent option in deeper leagues for Week 1. Taking on the New York Giants, Prescott is currently ranked right on the QB1/2 turn. The Giants Defense should be pretty good this season and with the focal points of the Dallas offense, Amari Cooper (foot) and Ezekiel Elliott (holdout/conditioning) […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoEagles Defense Has a Strong Week 1 Matchup
The Philadelphia Eagles Defense has a strong Week 1 matchup against the Washington Redskins and should be a no-doubt starting unit. The Eagles as a unit were excellent in 2017 before taking a huge step back last season mostly due to a lack of takeaways. With some good new players in the fold and some […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoDallas Goedert a Good Option in Two-Tight End Leagues
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert should be a solid option in two-tight end leagues for Week 1. Taking on a Washington Redskins Defense that will likely be focused on Zach Ertz, Goedert could find some open space and make some noise. While he'll have a relatively low floor because of his position in the […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoZach Ertz Is a Top-Three Option for Week 1
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is a top-three option for Week 1. The Eagles will take on the Washington Redskins, a team that is expected to be rather decent at defending opposing tight ends, but Ertz isn't just any tight end. He should once again be the focal point of quarterback Carson Wentz's passing offense. […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoNelson Agholor Not a Starting Option in Week 1
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor is not a strong starting option in Week 1. The Eagles will take on the Washington Redskins and should have no trouble moving the ball on offense, but there are simply too many mouths to feed in the Eagles passing game. Combine that with the fact that the Eagles […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoDeSean Jackson Has Plenty of Upside in Week 1
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson enters a Week 1 matchup with the Washington Redskins with plenty of upside. Jackson is expected to be the lid-lifter for the Eagles offense while Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz work the shorter routes. Jackson, as he has been most of his career, will be a boom-or-bust option most […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoAlshon Jeffery a Solid Option in Week 1
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is a solid option in a Week 1 matchup with the Washington Redskins. Jeffery will have a new starting partner on offense this season, as DeSean Jackson has rejoined the Eagles offense. That could open up some room for Jeffery to work shorter routes as Jackson opens things up […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoCorey Clement Not a Strong Option in Week 1
Philadelphia Eagles running back Corey Clement is not a recommended starting option in Week 1 when the Eagles take on the Washington Redskins. Clement could carve out a big role this season, but it is currently unclear how he, veteran Darren Sproles, and rookie Miles Sanders will split carries and snaps. Sanders has the most […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoJordan Howard Looking Like a Touchdown-Dependent Option
Philadelphia Eagles running back Jordan Howard is looking like a touchdown-dependent fantasy option in Week 1. The Eagles take on the Washington Redskins and shouldn't have much of a problem moving the ball, but rookie Miles Sanders and passing down backs Corey Clement and Darren Sproles are expected to fill their roles while Howard will […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoMiles Sanders Should Have a Significant Role in Week 1
Philadelphia Eagles rookie running back Miles Sanders should play a significant role in the Week 1 offense against the Washington Redskins. Sanders reportedly outplayed every other running back in Eagles camp and should get the biggest snap share in the Philly backfield. His upside is limited by the presence of passing down backs Corey Clement […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoCarson Wentz Set for a Strong Opening to the Season
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is looking like a good bet to get off to a good start in Week 1. The Eagles take on the Washington Redskins and Wentz is ranked among the top five quarterbacks for the week. He has a good matchup against the Washington defense, and he'll have plenty of new […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoEzekiel Elliott and the Cowboys Close to a Six-Year Deal
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is close to signing a six-year, $90 million contract extension. "Zeke" is back in Dallas after spending time training and working out away from the team in Cabo. The deal, if completed as reported, would keep Elliott in Dallas until 2026. It would also give him an average of […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoEzekiel Elliott Flying Back to Dallas on Tuesday
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is reportedly flying back to Dallas on Tuesday. This is significant because recent reports stated that Elliott and the Cowboys were making progress on a multi-year deal. The running back has been holding out and working out away from the team in Cabo. With the Cowboys opening the season […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoCarlos Santana Hits His 32nd Blast on Monday
Cleveland Indians first baseman Carlos Santana went yard for the 32nd time on Monday, going 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. His other hit was a single, and he improved his slash line to .292/.411/.548. Santana has been the most consistent hitter in the Cleveland lineup in a season of offensive ups and […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoFranmil Reyes Drives in Three Runs on Monday
Cleveland Indians outfielder/designated hitter Franmil Reyes drove in three runs on Monday, going 2-for-4 with a double and a single. He scored a run and rose his slash line to .232/.304/.465. Reyes got off to a very slow start after the trade deadline, but he's turned it on lately and could be a valuable offensive […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoAaron Civale Wins His Third Game on Monday
Cleveland Indians rookie starting pitcher Aaron Civale pitched well enough on Monday, earning his third win to even his record at 3-3. He pitched just five innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks. He struck out four. It was actually one of his worst starts as a big leaguer, but […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoCarlos Martinez Earns a Four-Out Save on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals closer Carlos Martinez picked up his 17th save of the season on Monday, recording four outs without allowing a run or a hit. He struck out two and threw just 17 pitches. Martinez isn't an elite fireballer but he should be a solid source of saves with a few strikeouts for the […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoAdam Wainwright Throws Seven Shutout Innings on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright was excellent on Monday, tossing seven shutout innings. He allowed just four hits without issuing a walk. He only struck out one but 62 of his 96 pitches were strikes. The win was "Waino's" 10th, improving to 10-9 and lowering his ERA to 4.30. Wainwright has had some […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoAmari Cooper Says He's Good to Go for Sunday
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper (foot) said he thinks he's good to go for Week 1's matchup against the New York Giants. He mentioned that he did not feel any pain in his foot during Monday's practice. He'd been running at full speed, but the foot injury wasn't allowing him to cut and complete […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoDallas Goedert Ready For a Bigger Role in 2019
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert is ready for a more effective and more involved 2019 season. He'll remain behind Zach Ertz, but the Eagles are expected to default to an "11" personnel on offense, meaning there will be two tight ends on the field. Goedert looked strong in his rookie season and should continue […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoMiles Sanders Should Have a Strong Rookie Year
Philadelphia Eagles rookie running back Miles Sanders should have a solid rookie year. His strong performance throughout training camp, practices, and the preseason have put him atop the depth chart. He'll have plenty of competition, though, as Corey Clement and Darren Sproles figure to split passing downs and Jordan Howard looks ticketed for short-yardage work. […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoJordan Howard Could Score a Few Touchdowns This Season
Philadelphia Eagles running back Jordan Howard could see the end zone many times this season. Set to work as the short-yardage back, Howard won't have the volume to provide consistent fantasy value, but he could have several multi-touchdown weeks. It looks like rookie Miles Sanders will be the lead back with passing game help from […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoAlshon Jeffery Could Have Peaks and Valleys Upcoming
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is set to have several huge games this season. He is also, however, a candidate to have some quiet outings as well. With the Eagles adding DeSean Jackson and several talented running backs to the offense, quarterback Carson Wentz will not be forced to focus on Jeffery in games […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoZach Ertz May Get Fewer Targets, but Will Still Be a TE1
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz may cede some targets to rising sophomore Dallas Goedert this season, but he should still get more than enough to be a solid top-tier TE1 in all fantasy formats. Ertz ended up with a ridiculous and unsustainable target share last season, but with DeSean Jackson added to the wide […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoCarson Wentz Ready for a Healthy 2019 Season
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz saw his quarterback room go through several changes during the preseason, but he himself should be all set to go for a healthy and productive 2019 season. Wentz played as many preseason snaps and you and I, but he's looking at another possible MVP-level campaign if he stays on the […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoMichael Gallup Could Be Set for a Solid Sophomore Season
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup had some ups and downs as a rookie, but he should be set for a more productive and consistent season as a sophomore. His preseason usage suggests that he will be counted on as the "lid lifter" against opposing defenses, and that could create opportunities for some big games. […]
David A Marcillo 5 years agoMike Weber Cut by the Cowboys
Rookie running back Mike Weber was cut by the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. Weber was drafted with the 218th overall pick but was outplayed by fellow rookie Tony Pollard in the preseason. If Weber makes it through waivers, he's likely to spend some time on the Cowboys practice squad.
David A Marcillo 5 years agoJosh Adams Gets Cut by the Eagles
Running back Josh Adams was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. Adams led the Eagles in rushing last season but didn't have much of a chance to make the team this season with the newly acquired running backs on the Eagles roster. He'll very likely find a new team before next weekend.
David A Marcillo 5 years agoWendell Smallwood Waived by the Eagles
Running back Wendell Smallwood was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. Smallwood was on the outside looking in all preseason since the Eagles beefed up their backfield. He's a decent enough player as a depth piece and should have a job this season at least as a pass catcher out of the backfield.
