Anthony Rendon appeared in only 80 games last season as he struggled through an injury-plagued campaign that saw him miss time due to various ailments. This could be a great time to buy low on Rendon, who looks to be in line for a big bounce-back in 2016.
Back in 2014, Rendon’s vast talent was on full display as he delivered a .287/.351/.473 slash line, slugged 21 HRs and swiped 17 bags. In short, Rendon fully validated the Nationals decision to select him in the first round of 2011, leading many to expect big things in 2015. Alas, the injury bug bit Rendon hard last season, thoroughly disappointing those who bought high. A new season equals new beginnings for the Nationals and Rendon, who will slide over to third base on a full time basis to make room for free agent second baseman Daniel Murphy. Rendon’s position in the lineup is uncertain at this time, but wherever he slides into what looks to be a loaded Nationals lineup will provide him with ample opportunity to compile stats reminiscent of his 2014 breakout campaign.
