Dolphins Place Franchise Tag On Mike Gesicki
3 years agoThe Miami Dolphins have placed the franchise tag on tight end Mike Gesicki. He is set to make $10.93 million in 2022. He played more snaps out of the slot than any other tight end in 2021. The 26-year-old set career-highs in catches (73) and receiving yards (780) and was the team's second leading receiver last season, behind only rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. He becomes the second tight end to receive a franchise tag along with Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku. Gesicki will have a crucial role in new head coach Mike McDaniel's offense and is a low-TE1 now that he remains with the Dolphins.
