James Conner, Chase Edmonds Set To Hit Free Agency
3 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals will weigh options at running back with James Conner and Chase Edmonds set to hit free agency. The two Cardinals running backs combined for 1,344 rushing yards and 80 receptions for 686 yards and 20 total touchdowns last season. "I think things keep changing philosophically," Cardinals general manager Steve Keim. "I understand that analytically, it tells you that the best backs come as a whole in rounds three through six, but at the same time, when you have one that is a difference-maker or you think is special or brings something to the table like leadership and toughness, it's hard to put a price on those guys." Conner reportedly wants to return to Arizona after producing 752 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns on 202 carries in 2021. He added 37 receptions on 39 targets for 375 receiving yards and another three touchdowns as Arizona's most productive running back. Edmonds was a solid complement to Conner, rushing for 592 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 43 of 53 targets for 311 yards. Arizona has many essential decisions on offense this offseason, starting with extending quarterback Kyler Murray. It remains to be seen if the Cardinals retain Edmonds or Conner once free agency hits. Stay tuned for further updates.
