After a long a crazy Week 15 finally wrapping up, Week 16 of the NFL season is here. Along with that comes that 2nd round of the fantasy football playoffs for most leagues.
Injury and COVID situations will remain key in determining the right players to start or sit in fantasy lineups, and can be the difference between a win and a loss. Among those is Julio Jones, who has been a disappointment all year and left last week's game with an injury.
Is Julio Jones playing this week against the 49ers or Thursday Night Football, or is he injured? Let's take a look at the Titans wide receiver and his Week 16 outlook.
Is Julio Jones Playing This Week Against the 49ers?
Wide receiver Julio Jones has been dealing with injuries for many weeks this season, and last week he was once again forced to miss time with a hamstring injury. After missing Weeks 10-12 with the same injury, he was forced to leave last week's game after seeing only one target. In Week 16, Julio surprisingly has not been listed on the injury report and practiced in full. He is expected to play on Thursday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers to kick off Week 16:
Should I Start Julio Jones if He Plays In Week 16?
The 32-year-old has been a disappointment in his first season in Tennessee, playing in only eight games due to lower-body injuries. Jones had just returned from an Injured Reserve stint due to a hamstring injury in Week 14.
He managed zero receptions on his lone target and played just 26 snaps in the Week 15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers before leaving the game with a hamstring aggravation and never returned. Given all of Jones' lower-body injuries, he is always at risk of re-injuring himself and is fighting an uphill battle to contribute in a meaningful way for the Titans and fantasy managers.
Assuming Jones is active on Thursday, fantasy managers should consider him a low-upside WR4/flex at risk of playing limited snaps. Jones hasn't scored a single touchdown in 2021 and hasn't had more than four catches or 59 yards in a single game outside of his lone 100-yard game back in Week 2.
If there are better options on your team, it may be best to sit Jones and reduce the risk for your fantasy teams.
