Panthers Not Ready To Decide Starting QB For Week 16
3 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said he won't speculate on who the starting quarterback will be in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers between Cam Newton and Sam Darnold (shoulder). Darnold, who remains on Injured Reserve and hasn't played since Week 9, must be cleared for contact in order to practice this week. The 24-year-old got off to a hot start to begin the 2021 season, but he looked terrible after that before getting injured. But Cam Newton hasn't done enough to secure the starting role the rest of the way, and the Panthers would like to get another look at Darnold to close out the year after trading for him. Although Tampa's secondary has been beat up and vulnerable all year, whoever starts for the Panthers this Sunday shouldn't be in consideration as a QB1 streamer in the fantasy semifinals.
