Ozzie Albies 2022 Player Outlook: Elite Fantasy Floor With Unrealized Ceiling
3 years agoThe Braves switch-hitting second baseman has already piled up 90 homers and 60 stolen bases in the Major Leagues, and he has yet to turn 25 years old. Ozzie Albies' 2021 season was his best work yet, as he scored 103 runs, hit 30 homers, drove in 106 runs, and stole 20 bases. He did all of that in spite of a career-low .259 batting average and not having Ronald Acuna Jr. batting ahead of him for the majority of the year. It is quite possible he has plenty of unrealized ceiling still in his game, as it is easy to forget just how young he is. His floor is hugely bolstered by his low strikeout rates (18.7% in 2021) and the bats around him. As one of the 11 players to clear 50 homers plus steals last season, Albies offers your team a combination of stats that is very tough to find all in one package. We have here one of the highest floor players in the league, and again – we still do not know where the ceiling lies. Add on to this that Albies plays a very shallow position for fantasy purposes, and you have a guy with first-round value that is being drafted in the second or third round (current ADP of 21). That's a bargain, and you should be excited to take it.
