Giants Fire Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett
3 years agoThe New York Giants fired offensive coordinator Jason Garrett on Tuesday, according to a source. Garrett had been the team's offensive coordinator for just 26 games after being fired as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Senior offensive assistant Freddie Kitchens is expected to take over the play-calling duties, starting with the Week 12 game against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants are dead last in the NFL with 42 offensive touchdowns since the start of last year when Garrett took over as offensive coordinator. New York ranks 25th in points per game (18.9) and 23rd in yards per game (322.8) in 2021. The offense's shortcoming were on full display in the 30-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday. With a bad offensive line in front of him, quarterback Daniel Jones hasn't had much of a chance this year.
