Panthers Unlikely To Trade For Deshaun Watson Before Tuesday
3 years agoContrary to a previous report, the Carolina Panthers have no plans to pursue a trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson before Tuesday's trade deadline, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. The source also said that the Panthers never offered or considered offering star running back Christian McCaffrey as part of a package for Watson. It doesn't mean that Carolina will resurface as a possible Watson suitor in the offseason, but Watson would also have to want to play for the Panthers, and he currently does not. Remember, Watson has a full no-trade clause, making trade negotiations a bit more tricky. In any event, a Watson trade isn't imminent, and the Texans asking price remains astronomically high for a player facing 20-plus lawsuits for sexual-assault and sexual-abuse allegations.
