Chargers Hopeful Austin Ekeler Can Play Sunday
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (hip) is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the New England Patriots. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that head coach Brandon Staley and the Chargers are "hopeful that he can play" on Sunday. "He just came up a little bit sore after the practice. It didn't happen during the practice. He just had a little bit of soreness in his hip. He felt much better these last two days," Staley said. It sounds as though the Chargers are just being careful with their lead back, and barring any further setback, the 26-year-old should be active on Sunday afternoon. If Ekeler is limited at all or doesn't play, Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley and rookie Larry Rountree III will all likely pitch in to form a committee against New England. Ekeler has been a top-five fantasy RB and must be started if he plays.
