Chiefs Defense Making A Big Change In Week 6
3 years agoKansas City Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill is expected to start at safety moving forward, with veteran incumbent Daniel Sorensen headed to a reserve role, beginning in Week 6 against the Washington Football Team. Sorensen allowed a 61-yard pass to Stefon Diggs and then a 53-yard touchdown pass to Dawson Knox in last week's loss to the Buffalo Bills. KC's defense is currently 31st in yards and 32nd in points allowed through five games. Thornhill started in the season opener as a rookie in 2019 but then tore his ACL that December and dealt with knee pain last year. Sorensen has missed 20.5% of his tackle opportunities and is giving up a 153.8 passer rating when targeted, according to Pro Football Focus. The move to Thornhill should help, but the Chiefs defense isn't a recommended streaming option on Sunday against Washington.
