Melvin Gordon III Doesn't Do Much Against Steelers
3 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III struggled to get anything going in the 27-19 Week 5 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Gordon had one more carry than rookie Javonte Williams, but he generated just 34 yards on his nine carries (3.8 yards per tote) while also catching both of his targets for just nine yards. Both Gordon and Williams continue to split this backfield right down the middle, with both ball-carriers seeing 11 touches in the loss. The 28-year-old has been decent but not great for the Broncos this year, but Williams was clearly the more efficient and more explosive back in this one. Williams has more long-term upside, but the Broncos don't appear ready to go away from this near-even timeshare anytime soon.
