Justin Fields Named Bears Starter Going Forward
3 years agoThe Chicago Bears have named rookie quarterback Justin Fields as the starter going forward. Head coach Matt Nagy had been adamant up to this point that veteran Andy Dalton (knee) was the team's starter when healthy, but something obviously changed in the last few days. The 22-year-old Fields had a disastrous first NFL start in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns (68 yards passing, nine sacks taken), but he played better in the Week 4 win over the Detroit Lions (11-for-17, 209 yards passing) with Dalton still sidelined. Fields will need to play much better to retain the starting gig once Dalton is fully recovered from his knee injury, but for now, he'll be a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues for fantasy managers. He gets a matchup against a much-improved Las Vegas Raiders defense in Week 5.
