Jimmy Garoppolo Has A Chance To Play In Week 5
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) "has a chance" to play in Week 5 against the 4-0 division-rival Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. "It wasn't as bad as we thought it might have been. Today he's in a lot of pain and still sore. Wednesday if it's getter better, he has a good chance," Shanahan said. Garoppolo was officially diagnosed with a calf contusion. The 29-year-old didn't play at all in the second half in the loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Rookie Trey Lance went 9-for-18 for 157 yards and two touchdowns in relief, but the Niners would probably prefer not to expose him in a starting role too soon if he's not ready. Garoppolo would likely have positive game script against the high-scoring Cardinals, but he'd still be a shaky QB2 in superflex leagues likely at less than 100 percent if he plays.
