Matt Manning Pitches Five Scoreless Frames In Final Start
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Manning ended his rookie season on a high note on Saturday. Facing the Chicago White Sox, he pitched five innings and allowed two hits, one walk and no runs while striking out a season-high seven. It was his third consecutive start against the White Sox and easily his best of the three as he allowed a total of nine earned runs across his previous two before this one. The 23-year-old right-hander closes out his first season in the majors with a 4-7 record to go along with a 5.80 ERA, a 1.51 WHIP and a 14.8% strikeout rate.
