Chris Paddack Won't Return This Season
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Chris Paddack (elbow) is being shut down for the 2021 season. Padres manager Jayce Tingler made the announcement on Wednesday. Paddack has been sidelined since September 11 with right elbow inflammation. For now, he is receiving treatment and he won't be throwing for four to six weeks. The team is hopeful he can avoid surgery. The 25-year-old right-hander made 23 appearances this year (22 starts) and went 7-7 with a 5.07 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He had a solid 4.5 K/BB ratio thanks to a fantastic 4.8% walk rate that ranked in the top 5% of the league.
