Yandy Diaz Exits Tuesday's Game With Rib Discomfort
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz (rib) was removed in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game against the Houston Astros. After the game, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported that his removal was due to left side rib discomfort. He will be reevaluated by the team on Wednesday, at which point we'll have a better idea of the severity of the injury. He should be considered day-to-day for now. Diaz cranked his 13th home run of the year in the first inning of Tuesday's game. If he were to miss time, Joey Wendle would likely serve as the team's primary third baseman, though Wander Franco could shift over and cover the hot corner as well.
