T.J. Hockenson On His Way To Becoming Elite
3 years agoDetroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson looks to be on his way to becoming an elite tight end in the NFL. Hockenson is the only player in the NFL through two games with eight-plus receptions in both games of 2021. He is also the third tight end in league history to have eight catches and a touchdown in each of the first two games of a season, joining Mark Andrews (2019) and Ben Coates (1994). The 24-year-old, along with running back D'Andre Swift, have really taken advantage of the Lions lack of receiving depth, and now top wideout Tyrell Williams (concussion) is on Injured Reserve. Detroit figures to be trailing a lot this year, too, so Hockenson will continue to be fed targets. He has become a top-five fantasy tight end and is a must-start in Week 3 against a Ravens defense that has allowed a league-high 245 receiving yards and two touchdowns to tight ends in the first two weeks.
