David Bednar To Throw Live Batting Practice Soon
3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher David Bednar (oblique) is scheduled to throw live batting practice in the coming days, according to Todd Tomczyk, the director of sports medicine for the Pirates. Bednar was placed on the 10-day injured list last week due to a right oblique strain. He was serving as the team's primary closer before the injury, converting each of his three save chances from August 21 until the injury. He has a solid 3.24 ERA and 1.09 WHIP on the year. Chris Stratton has been the Pirates' primary closer with Bednar out, but it seems as if there's a chance Bednar won't be gone too much longer.
