Michael Brantley Unlikely To Return When First Eligible
3 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Michael Brantley (knee) is eligible to be activated from the injured list on Wednesday, but Astros manager Dusty Baker believes he'll need more time to recover first. The 34-year-old veteran has been out since September 11 with a sore knee. Brantley went through workouts prior to the team's game against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. However, Baker told reporters that Brantley still needs to run the bases and go through more batting practice before returning. He's close to a return, but it may not be until later this week or over the weekend. Over 116 games on the year, Brantley is slashing .315/.367/.441 with eight home runs, 45 RBI and 68 runs.
